51ºÚÁÏÍø will host a Veteran’s appreciation luncheon on Monday, November 10 at noon in the Copper Lounge in the Student Union Building. The event is sponsored by the 51ºÚÁÏÍø Student Veteran Task Force in honor of 51ºÚÁÏÍø students, faculty and staff who served or are currently serving.
This year, the Task Force will present the first-ever Distinguished Student Veteran Recognition Award. Student veterans were nominated by 51ºÚÁÏÍø faculty, staff, or students based the criteria of reliability, initiative, uniqueness of their contribution, and community and campus service.
“Our committee received 16 nominations for the award,” noted Janet Friesz, Veterans School Certifying Official, member of the Veterans Task Force. “Based on the nominations, it is clear the quality of our 51ºÚÁÏÍø Veteran students is exceptional.”
Dr. Doug Abbott, 51ºÚÁÏÍø Provost, will present the nominees at the awards ceremony and announce the winner of the award.
